Yesterday, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R) signed an abortion bill that bans all abortions unless a woman’s health is in serious danger.
The bill has no exceptions for victims of rape or incest. And the physicians who carry out abortions could face up to 99 years in prison. The ban is set to go into effect in six months.
In response to the bill, public figures like actress Busy Philipps began #YouKnowMe, an online movement in which thousands of woman speak to put a face to the figure that one in four women get an abortion in their lifetimes.
Why do we need to share these compelling stories for there to be legitimate reasoning for making decisions for our own bodies? Roe v. Wade is settled into law and abortion choices should remain between a woman and her doctor.
